Power Rankings: Competitive Division
Heading into week four of the competitive division a picture is worth a thousand words. As teams begin to work hard and position themselves for the post season take a look at the week four Power Rankings.
There is no surprise here in the year 20-10 for the competitive division, just a few questions about the elites.
No Mercy has shown the will to defeat anybody on any night but will this be enough in the playoffs. Usual Suspects have managed to go undefeated thus far in the season, however a possible  ’unknown’ team may hand them their first loss of the season. MFA 3.0 has continued to win despite the size disadvantage in the post but will this continue to be a factor late in the season.
Check out the mid season Power Rankings and see where your favorite team is seated below.
Winter season recess is over and begins 01.10.10 and 01.11.10 as the Warriors battle MFA 3.0 in Game One this weekend.
| 9. Hoop Dreams [0 - 3]

|
Heading into the second half at 0 – 3 and a tough stretch against the elites the new comers will have to step up and play. Reggie Williams and Joseph Tucker have played well but will this be enough to earn their first victory in two seasons. André Hopkins handles the point and Alexi Waul needs help in the post. Still time to recruit more talent and get that FIRST win. |
| 8. Bru Dogs [0 - 4]

Coming off a devastating loss to Ve-nice had to be a wake-up call, given that this team made it to the championship round in season one. New recruits Bobby Moore, Justin Waters and Eric Rohwer have to earn more playing time by knocking down open shots and playing hard nosed defense. The Bru Dogs are off to a slow start but look for these guys to pick it up late and challenge the top squads. |
| 7. Ve-nice [1 - 1]

Arriving tardy to games will earn you a technical foul. Once everyone showed for their second game, Johnny Myers and Kyle Guillory have the team chemistry to work either side of the court. Guillory is averaging a double-double this season and help is on the way. David Rogue handles pressure and hits the open man. Team defense needs to be better to beat the top squads, just ask the Phoenix Suns. |
| 6. Unknowns [1 - 2]

|
Their only win coming against PR#9 was not impressive. Three point specialist Adam Baker and “Mr. Do-It-All,” Kevin Hornesby have been the best in crunch time. Christian Taylor is the work horse scoring at will in both the post and perimeter. The strength of the Unknowns will be ultimately decided by how much this team wants to win. Upcoming games against No Mercy and Usual Suspects will be a good challenge to this fast and mighty team. |
| 5. MFA 3.0 [2 - 1]
![JR Porter, MFA 3.0 [white jersey] JR Porter, MFA 3.0 [white jersey]](http://losangeleshoopz.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/111509l-150x150.jpg)

Winning week two match up against the PR#8 was the highlight. Speedy Moses Davenport scores in bunches and often. Team leader Maestro and Josh Novak have brought a new type of attitude to the table. Post players are a necessity here. As the fourth leading scoring team in the division, someone other than Davenport needs to get the ball into the hole. Will JR Porter create enough offense against the Warriors and No Mercy? Tune-in, this is an exciting team. |
| 4. Blazin’ Aces [2 -1]

Team captain Junior Benitez has rallied this team. Anthony Jenkins needs help in the post and rebounding. Bobby Benitez helps on both ends of the floor. Costly turnovers and inconsistently late in the game is a thorn. Recruiting on a daily basis for talent is a must here. Look for “Coach” to be the spark needed off the bench. Run & Gun style seldom works against the stronger teams. Junior knows what his team needs. Catch ‘em of you can in action. |
| 3. No Mercy [2 - 1]

|
Playing as Batman, Gene Shepherd recruited with a vengeance in his second season. New recruits Kenny Jones and Dion Curry have been the focus offensively. Defensive leaders Eze Burts and Bryan Lockwood will make the most of the opportunities late in the game. Scoring and scoring and scoring are this team’s strengths. Bringing it all together before the playoffs is the question. As entertaining a roster as ever, this team will beat the elites as the Dark Horse. Remember the name, Cory Aycock, a diabolical player on both ends of the floor [insert Robin from the old Batman sitcom]. |
| 2. Warriors [2 - 1]

|
Deante Horton wanted to play with the homeboys. Jordan Rush has already proved he belongs in the same sentence as Dan Zinchuk. The combination of Rush and Larry Johnson is the most powerful one-two punch. A team is only as strong as their weakest link. Point guard play will plague this team late in the season. Obai Ahmadi needs to pick-it-up and take control of the ball if this team is going to succeed. Look for late recruits to join prior to the season end. |
| 1. Usual Suspects [3 - 0]

|
Winning all the scheduled games in season one and on their way to repeat as season champs. Usual Suspects play has been suspect as of late. Example #1: won by a last second tap-in over the Warriors. Example #2: won by late game turn down against No Mercy.
Players Canty and who-so-ever decides to take over a game is a good receipt for success. High in team IQ and chemistry will prevail against the rest of the league. Cuba Alexander and Eric Prete will return to form and help earn their first title, if PR#2 and PR#3 can’t stop these guys. |
