Hoop Dreams – 59 MFA 5.0 – 60 Edmead and Bloomquist led 5.0 Agents to overtime win Injury Report: Tristan Marin – Injured – Return unlikely What a way to start the summer basketball league. Players arriving early and bringing the funk, Hoop Dreams managed to sign two high caliber players prior to their opening matchup against Men’s Free Agent 5.0. Jesse Stockwell and Mario Trutanic help keep Hoop Dreams close heading into the second half, down 19 – 25, to the MFA 5.0. Joseph Tucker led all halftime scorers with seven points and one triple from behind the arc. Kerie Edmead was just as efficient with seven halftime points and four rebounds. Playing a 2-3 zone to start the half, MFA 5.0 led early in the half 34- 29. Kerie Edmead #28 challenges Ian Joyce in the paint Down thirteen points with 5 minutes to go in the game, Hoop dreams went on a 11 – 1 run trailing 53 – 50 with 2:27 remaining. Following a quick timeout and a lay-in by Joseph tucker. A steal by MFA 5.0, followed up by a big block by Jesse stock lead to a wide open three attempt by Joseph tucker to bring the game to 53 – 53 apiece. Joseph Tucker hit a three with twenty seconds remaining in the ball game. Desperation three by Kyle Kelley and attempted tap-in by Byron Bloomquist wasn’t enough and game one of the summer season went into overtime. Trying to avoid a double overtime Byron Bloomquist scored the first bucket after regulation. On the next possession Mario Trutanic was fouled on a three point attempt went to the line and knocked down all three. Trailing by three points Moses davenport banked in a three from the top of key with a hand in the face, tied the game, 59 – 59 with 1.2 seconds. On the in bound pass, Kerie Emead dribbled and went up to shot and got fouled by Davenport. Emead hit one of two to secure the win for MFA 5.0 in fashion with the 60 – 59 victory. LEAGUE NOTES: All players be sure to arrive early prior to the tip-off to prevent delay. A technical foul will be assessed to the tardy team and play will commence shortly after.
