V-Boltz – 47 MFA 5.0 – 43 V-Boltz win over the rookies, second victory of season Junior Benitez hit back-to-back three point shots to begin the game on the right track. Out of sink for much of the first half, MFA 4.0, trailed by as many as ten points. View the link above for game stats. Fresh in the building, Byron Bloomquist, hit the first attempt of the evening behind the arc. V-Boltz size and strength was key in holding a thirteen point lead, 28 – 15, at halftime in evening game two. Bobby Benitez was relentless on the boards and distributing the rock to open teammates. Anthony Jenkins, wearing #14, a la Sam Perkins was glad to be back in form against the summer rookies. V-Boltz continue to lead with seven minutes remaining, 37-26, but the rookies would not go down without a fight. Bloomquist will participate in the dunk contest, All Star weekend Kerie Edmead grabbed rebounds and hit the open shots to keep it close. Bloomquist, the enforcer, man handled the post almost scoring at will against the defense of Blanco and B. Benitez. Known for the uptempo style and razzle-dazzle style, Junior Benitez wanted to win at all cost. V-Boltz style! Meet me up top big man, Bloomquist and B. Benitez both went to the rack only to bump heads above the rim. Knock down a step back two by Junior Benitez; matching was Edmead with a deep three beyond the arc. MFA cut the lead to four points with thirty seconds remaining in the ball game. Kerie Edmead fought to provide 17 points and nine boards in the loss. Bloomquist had the look but couldn’t convert against the defense of Jenkins. William Bailey step to the line to knock down one of two extending the lead to 47 – 40. Game Notes – Multiple air balls where shot at the foul line by both teams.
