Gone Fishin: Round 1 & 2 Results

What a weekend! Teams came with high hopes and only the top seeds succeeded.

No upsets this season but Hoop Dreams did move past the first round. MFA 3.0 managed to move into the second round also, with the help of HD. Put them together and the division never saw it coming.

Usual Suspects playing with only four players hand HD a huge loss, thumping HD by 36 points. Defense, defense, defense wins games. HD lacked the ‘D’ and the intensity to overcome the larger front-line of the Suspects and Mark Janetta’s 45 point outing.

Up next for the Suspects are the good ol’ buddies of Ve-nice.

Ve-Nice punishes the smaller front line of Blazin Aces

The MVP and Drey Thomas went to work, sending the Blazin’ Aces packing for the summer. Thomas had a great all around game and scored at will on numerous occasions.

Junior Benitez and company never reached their potential in this contest. Missed opportunities and forced turnovers created easy transition buckets for the MVP and the David Rogue attack.

Ve-nice will be challenging ol’ foes from the neighborhood of Santa Monica and Ocean Park.

No Mercy looking ahead at the Warriors

As Chaka Khan got the crowd going, so did Kenny Jones and Eze Burts. If it wasn’t Jones knocking down, spinning treys from the corner, it was Burts grabbing a game high 15 total rebounds.

Gene Shepherd helped keep the hot shooting Unknowns at Bay. Adam Baker, team captain, only managed one made field goal finishing with three total points.

Warriors handle the Bru Dogs, barely

The Bru Dogs are like the Houston Rockets of 1997. The Bru Dogs are like the Spurs of 2005. The Dogs just know how to play in crunch time, just ask Rudy Tomjanovich.  Down by 12 points with thirteen minutes remaining, Tony Ngo and company went on to tie the ball game heading down the stretch.

Jordan Rush came to life, scoring above the rim and blocking multiple shots to keep the Dogs at bay. Rush and Larry Johnson scored 27 and 24 respectively in the victory.

Check out the upcoming playoff schedule for the competitive division.

Get ready for the summer season! Tip-off date coming soon!

LEAGUE NOTES: All players be sure to arrive early prior to the tip-off to prevent delay. A technical foul will be assessed to the tardy team and play will commence shortly after. Playerz and Fanz be sure to keep the facility clean for our next event. For questions or concerns see your nearest Hoopz Staff member.

Funny! It’s crazy that I was fouled out in the first half. I was blame for fouls that I did not do. Drey knows this is true. LoL
